Focusing on educating and empowering priority populations through programming and events based around HIV, Safe(r) Sex Practices and Healthy Decision Making.
The Youth Outreach program is a dynamic, multi-faceted initiative that is two-tiered in scope. We provide free prevention intervention workshops to educate youth who are at risk of contracting HIV. Focusing on increasing positive sexual health behaviour by emphasizing condom use, communication and consent, the workshops aim to teach youth how to better navigate sexual relationships and drug use activities from a harm reduction perspective. We connect youth to local agencies to assist them with their sexual, mental, emotional and physical needs.
The Youth Advisory Committee, a peer group that drives our youth programming forward. This group is trained on safer sex, harm reduction, HIV, Hep C, HPV, and STIs, and creates interventions (e.g. games or campaigns) that connect other youth with this information.
One Voice, a collective created to meet the health and social service gaps experienced by queer and trans people of colour aged 13 to 29.
Cocoa & Condoms, a sexual health empowerment program for young women of colour.
Safe Spaces, a biweekly mental health drop-in for LGBTQ+ youth (13-29). This group will build coping skills and is open to all LGBTQ+ youth every other Thursday at ACDR from 7pm-9pm, Sep-May.
Summer Street Youth Outreach, a practical support and referral based outreach program for youth who are street-involved.
