Harm Reduction.

Harm reduction is a philosophy that defines interventions, programs and policies that seek to reduce the health, social and economic harms of risk behaviour.  It makes no assumptions or judgements about the moral or legal nature of risk behaviour

Our Goal

The goal of the AIDS Committee of Durham Region is to reduce the transmission of HIV and HCV (Hepatitis C) by providing sterile needles, works (equipment) and safer sex supplies (condoms, lube etc.).

ACDR offers FREE Naloxone training and kits to the public as well as free informal/formal counselling.

We Supply

Harm reduction supplies are available on-site, and ACDR staff and volunteers also provide street outreach.

Sharps containers for the disposal of used needles are available; or leave your used needles with us.
