Gay Men’s Outreach

The AIDS Committee of Durham Region is committed to promoting better health, both physical and mental for gay men/MSM (Men who have Sex with Men) within the Durham Region.  Mark Hammann, our Gay Men’s Outreach Worker has been involved with the gay community since the early 1980’s.  Being a gay man and a PHA, he brings a strong commitment to serving the community.

Physical and Mental Well being:
We offer informative literature geared to gay men.   Information on community resources for MSM. We provide information on ’Coming Out’, tattooing and body piercing, substance abuse, and information on STI’s (including of course, HIV/AIDS).    Outreach within the community is comprised of meeting with men at local colleges, clubs and social events, as well as community events we sponsor.    We are working towards developing a stronger online presence as part of our Outreach efforts.

Promoting Gay Men’s Issues:
Advocating issues of concern for gay men with government officials in both areas of Health and Community issues.
